NEW TESTING FACILITY PROVES PROPERTY INVESTMENT WORKS IN BRISTOL
SEGRO, Europe’s leading provider of business space is continuing to invest in Bristol after a policy of refurbishing industrial units around the city has met with success.
The last of three units to be refurbished at The Beeches Industrial Estate in Yate, Bristol has just been let to provide new laboratories for York EMC Services Ltd, in Bristol where they will carry out electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing for clients.
They are relocating from Soundwell, Bristol to provide a new state-of-the-art facility in the unit SEGRO refurbished last year. Two anechoic chambers are being built in the units to enable York EMC Services to test EMC effects of electronic equipment along with electrical safety.
Chris Marshman, Managing Director of York EMC Services Ltd said: “The new laboratory is a considerable expansion and improvement on our existing facilities in Bristol and will enable many Bristol area electronics companies to have their accredited EMC and electrical safety testing done locally rather than have to travel to other parts of the country.
“The new building is ideal for us and we are now building our Anechoic, echo free, chambers inside so that we can provide this specialist service to customers.”
Chris Miles, of King Sturge, who let the unit on behalf of SEGRO said: “Two other units that SEGRO invested in last year were let to Crouch Logistics and the signing of this 12 year lease shows that if landlords are willing to invest in improving their property there are still good tenants to be found.”
SEGRO owns four business parks around Bristol, which it operates as a cluster called bristolworks under an active management policy that allows businesses to move within the cluster and helps them with any required expansion or contraction in business.
Jonathan Allen of joint agents Colliers International said: “The latest units to be refurbished by SEGRO at considerable capital expense are at South Liberty Lane, Ashton. One unit has been demolished to provide a large secure yard for another unit that has been completely refurbished.
“The units at South Liberty lane are ideal for people in the building trade, who need to keep materials secure so we are now actively looking for builders, scaffolders and other tradesmen who could use such a facility in South Bristol.”
The newly refurbished units are being marketed by Colliers International and King Sturge on behalf of SEGRO.
