DAY OF MUSIC PLANNED TO RAISE MONEY

FOR SUMMER FESTIVAL

An exciting day of local music is planned in Clevedon to raise money for the annual MARLENS festival due to take place later in the year.

Winterfest will feature sixteen local singers and bands performing at the Campbell’s Landing pub, on Clevedon Seafront on Saturday 28 January.

The event will take place from 12 noon until 11pm and the small charge for admission will go towards the annual Marine Lake Festival in September, organised by non-profit group MARLENS.

Mike Britton, MARLENS festival music director said: “Winterfest is the first of three music events we are putting on in the run-up to the main festival in September. We need to raise extra money for the Marine Lake and what better way than by holding a showcase of local talent.

“The bands and singers we have lined up are fantastic. There’s everything from Jazz and Rock to Hip Hop and Folk music. It’s a really eclectic mix and is sure to be a fantastic day.”

Acts performing include urban brothers Topshelf vs. Shiftee, local guitarist, singer and songwriter Gemma Clark, punk band Mr Zippy and cover band Footloose.

Money raised will go towards the Marine Lake Festival planned for 14-16 September 2012, which as ever, will include a schools day for local children, live acts, stalls, family activities and ‘have-a-go’ events on the lake.

September’s festival is free of charge and is one of the most popular events of the year with thousands attending every year.
